Upper Mustang Trek

On your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by our office representatives who will transfer you to the Hotel where you will have your overnight stay. In the evening you will be briefly explained about your program package. On the same time, you will be introduced with your tour guide who will accompany your sightseeing tomorrow. Then rest of the time will be at leisure in Hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel

Today we have to issue our special permits. we have to show your original passport and visa number. if you want you can do city sightseeing at UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It’s a day for you to take a drive from Kathmandu to the beautiful city of Pokhara enjoying a scenic drive from the Capital City along the Prithvi Highway. The present road has been greatly improved in the rercent years.  It will take around 6-7 hrs drive to reach Pokhara. Once you reach Pokhara, you will will be transferred to the Hotel in which you will stay tonight. Remaining time will be at our own. You may go to the restaurants round lakeside for your dinner in the evening. Overnight stay at Hotel

Today you will take an early morning flight to Jomsom which is the headquarter of Mustang district and also the most important hub of the Mustang region. You will enjoy the thirty minutes of mountain flight from the beautiful city of Pokhara. Your official trek begins from Jomsom once you land at the airport there. From Jomsom, you will start your trek and the destination for the day will be Kagbeni which is also the starting point of the Upper Mustang Trek. Enjoying the spectacular mountain views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Dhampus, Tukuche, you will lower down to Kagbeni, a small and vibrant village in Mustang. In the afternoon, you can stroll round the village and visit monastry. Overnight stay at Lodge

Today the trail leads to the eastern bank of Kaligandaki River and then rises continually towards North to arrive at the Tangbe Village. The route passes through narrow alleys between the local village houses, fields of buckwheat, barley, wheat, apples, among others, along with the spectacular view of Nilgiri mountain peak on the background. Continuing along the trail from Tangbe Village, an hour trek will bring you to the another village named Chhusang where you will have overnight stay tonight. Chussang lies at the confluence of the Kali Gandaki River and the Narsang stream. Overnight stay at Lodge

Today you will walk through the village, cross the Kaligandaki River and then climb up to the village of Chele. From Chele, you will follow the trail all the way up to the steep and barren terrain and then move along the side of a deep canyon to cross a stack of rock at 3540m. You will take a steady descend down the hill and move across chortens to make it all the way to Samar. Samar gives the perfect look of Mount Annapurna.Overnight stay at Lodge

From Samar, the trail leads to a short climb above the village to a ridge, with a downhill leading to a large gorge past a Chorten painted red, black, yellow and white-all the colors are made from local rocks. Then  the route decends through juniper trees and rivulets before climbing up a ridge at 3800 meters of altitude. After some more walk, you will reach Syanbochen, a small settlement with some teahouses. With s short tea break, the journey continues to a gentle climb to a pass entering towards a huge valley from where you will follow the right downhill path that leads to Ghiling, holding a large fields of barley. This day, you will pursue the trail along the local teahouses, Tibetan style settlement areas, the chortens and the Gompas before reaching all the way up to the Yamda La (3850m). After a brief rest there, you will climb further to Nyi Pass (4010m) to finally arrive at Ghami Village which is a small village covered with the mountains. From Ghami, you will have a pleasant walk through Mani walls before descending to Charang. On the way, you will pay a visit to the five-storey white Dzong and red Gompa situated on the edge of Kali Gandaki River. While in Dzong and red Gompa, you can observe the huge collections of statues, Thanka paintings of Buddha. Tsarang is a large and interesting village with a maze of fields and willow trees. This village is mostly inhabited mostly by the Lamas. Overnight stay at Lodge

The trail now descends about 100 feet below Charang to cross the Charang-Chu River and then climbs steeply up a rocky path to a pile of stones on a hill. The trail diverts to north with gentle climb as the valley ascends to a large Chorten, which marks the boundary between Tsarang and Lo. The climb follows to a wide spread landscape to reach the ridge situated at 3850m from where you will catch the first glimpse of the walled city of Lo-Manthang, the mystic land. You will then lower down to cross a small river before climbing to the plateau to reach Lo-Manthang, the ancient Kingdom of Mustang. The only entrance to the village is from the northeast corner, so one has to circulate the wall to the main entrance gate sometimes. Lomanthang is one of the iconic places in Mustang. Its the day for rest and you will be spending almost the entire day in Lomanthang, exploring more about the mystic place. In the afternoon, you can go to the western Valley of Tingkhar and enjoy the surrounding panoramic views of the Himalayan Mountains. Kimling, Phuwa and the Namgyal Gompa are some of the places you would want to visit on the day. Another attraction for the day is the four- storey building of the Raja’s palace, the home of the present raja, Jigme Parbal Bista, and the Rani (queen), who is from the noble family of Shigatse on route Lhasa. After visiting the walled city of Lo Manthang, you will start on your return journey through a different path which starts from Drakmar. While on the way to Dramkar, you will pay visit to the Gyokar Gompa which has been existing there since centuries. You can also meet with Guru Rimpoche. The Gompa which is considered to fulfill wishes of the visitors and also known for its cave paintings and legends. From Gompa, you will take the trail all the way up the ridge. We will climb the ridge across a valley along some alpine meadows and then lower down and continue to walk until Ghami is reached. Overnight stay at Lodge

After breakfast, you will continue your journey through a dusty and windy road to Ghiling. The large part of Ghiling is barren, yet it does worth the visit due to the majestic views of Mount Dhaulagir and Nilgiri it offers. Then the trail decends to a small settlement of Tama Gung. A steep switchbacks trail leads you to a stream from where the trail climbs to a large painted Chorten to reach Syangboche. In the afternoon, you can explore the surrounding areas of Syangboche and interact with the locals of the region and learn more about their lifestyle. Overnight stay at Lodge

Trekking to Chhusang is quite easy. You just need to gently descend the hill till you arrive to Chhusang. The landscape of the fields and the mountain views it offers make Chhuksang worth a visit. During the journey, you will have majestic scenery of the landscape and the Himalayan view. Overnight stay at Lodge

Today is the final day of tour trek to Upper Mustang. From Chhuksang, you will walk to the southern border of the region and reach Kagbeni. After resting a while in Kagbeni, you will walk along the bank of the Kali Gandaki River to reach Jomsom. After reaching Jomsom, you will have rest of the time at relax, preparing for the flight to Pokhara, the next day. Overnight stay at Lodge

After having light breakfast in morning, you will board a scenic flight to Pokhara. The journey will be brief, taking only 30 minutes, but you can enjoy the mountain flight watching the views of Mount Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, among others. After reaching Pokhara, you will be transferred to Hotel where you will be spending the night. You will have enough time to round the city to relax. Overnigh stay at Hotel

Today you will return back to Kathmandu either by flight or by drive. If you want to reach the Capital City early then you can take a domestic flight from the Pokhara Airport which will take about 35 minutes. If you want to enjoy the scenic drive, then you can return to Kathmandu via Prithvi Highway by tourists bus or private vehicle. Overnight stay at Hotel

It’s the last day of your stay in Nepal. As per your flight time, you will be transferred to the International Airport in Kathmandu from where you will board a flight back to your country or to your next favored destination.
