Jomsom Muktinath Trek is one of the spectacular trekking spot in Northern Pokhara of the Annapurna region. It begins from beautiful city Pokhara and passes through the Valley of Kali Gandaki River to the holy and pilgrim site of Muktinath. The natural beauty along the Jomsom – Muktinath is amazing. The scenery of the trail ranges from the forests of red rhododendrons to rocky cliffs and desert of Mustang.The trekking route is the entrance gate for upper mustang. This is a most popular short trek attracting over 75% of all the trekkers.

Jomsom Muktinath Trek ,Muktinath is one of the important pilgrimage places for both Hindus and Buddhists. There is some hindus tample and some Buddhist monestery.Here you can also find fossil rocks in the banks of Kali Gandaki River which is believed to be holy for the Hindus. Jomsom Muktinath Trek, the trail to Muktinath from Jomsom follows the Kali Gandaki River. You may also know that this river forms the largest valley in the world and on one side lies the Annapurna mountain range and Dhaulagiri on the other side. Between these two ranges there are views of 8 of the 20 highest mountains in the world. The trail weaves through the Lower Mustang region of Nepal finishing at the village of Kagbeni which is a Tibetan influenced village where you can see prayer flags wheels, chortens and a Buddhist monastery. Muktinath is a beautiful spot that is peaceful, incredibly beautiful and mysterious for pioneers, adorned with god and goddess. One of the ethnic groups Thakali is the significant community of Jomsom and Muktinath.

Details Itinerary

After your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by our representatives and then be transferred to the Hotel. There you will be briefly explained about the itinerary package. You will spend the rest of the time at the Hotel.

Today, you will be sightseeing around the Capital City, enjoying and exploring around several temples, monuments and sites of archeological and historical significance. The places you will be visiting on a one-day sightseeing tour in Kathmandu will be the Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan and other temples and monuments like Pashupatinath, Swyambhunath, Bouddhanath, among other places. Most of the sites you will be visiting are enlisted in the UNESCO’s World Heritage list.

It’s a day for you to take a drive from Kathmandu to the beautiful city of Pokhara enjoying a scenic drive from the Capital City along the Prithvi Highway. The present road has been greatly improved in the rercent years. It will take around 6-7 hrs drive to reach Pokhara. Once you reach Pokhara, you will will be transferred to the Hotel in which you will stay tonight. Remaining time will be at our own. You may go to the restaurants round lakeside for your dinner in the evening.

Today you will be dropped to Pokhara airport for your early morning flight to Jomsom which is a hub of the Mustang region from Pokhara. You will enjoy the thirty minutes of mountain flight from the beautiful city of Pokhara to Jomsom. Once you land in Jomsom, you will take as short rest for tea/coffee then start trekking to Kagbeni, a small and vibrant village in Kali Gandaki Valley. From Jomsom onward, it is very windy in the afternoon. As a result all the possible fights to Jomsom are operated only in the morning hours. So there are no flights in the afternnon. You will trek through the sandy bank of Kali gandaki River enjoying the spectacular mountain views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Dhampus and Tukuche. Finally you will reach the old town in Mustang district which is also the entry point of Upper Mustang Area. you can enjoy exploring the village and the monasteries.

On this day, you will resume your trek from Kagbeni and head towards Muktinath, a popular pilgrimage destination for both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. The trail from Kagbeni to Muktinath is mostly steep and a bit difficult. However, the trek will be a memorable as you will come across Himalayan Yaks, suspension bridges, the naked and barren hills and the local people who will welcome you with warm hospitality. After you reach the Muktinath, you will expore the religious temple. The main attraction of this area is Muktinath Temple, one hundred eight taps, natural flame that never goes out.

You will wake up in the morning with the religious ring of the temple which will be followed with the visit to Temple. There is a great faith among the Nepali pilgrims in the shrine of Muktinath and it is believed that the goddess provides salvation to the pilgrims who come and worship at the shrine. Once you accomplish your morning activities, you will start your trek towards Marpha passing through Jharkot, Kagbeni and Jomsom. The sandy trail passes through the Kali Gandaki Valley along the side of River. You are suggested to reach today's destination before 1100 as the valley remains windy in the afternoon. Marpha is a beautiful village located on the way to Jomsom and also one of the Village Development Committees in Mustang. The name Marpha is derived from words "mar" meaning hard work and "pha" meaning people. So, it can be guessed that the villagers in Marpha are hard working. Marpha is also known for the production of local apple brandy which is quite popular. You can explore round the village in the evening.

From Marpha, you will drive to Tatopani (Hot Water Spring) descending downhill looking at the great Himalayan Mountain Range of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains. The road has been just developed so it is dusty and bumpy as well. During your drive you will pass through different villages sush as Larjung, Kalopani, Ghasa and many other small villages where mostly Gurung and Magar ethnic community live. After you cross Ghasa village, the climate starts changing to warmer. After about three hours drive through the valley following the Kali Gandaki River and the deepest george in the world, finally reaches you at Tatopani.

From Tatopani, you will then trek to Ghorepani which is a wonderful village in Myagdi district. After a wonderful time at Tatopani, you will follow the trail along the River unless you cross the suspension bridge ove the Kali Gandaki River. Then the trail ascends for an hour to reach a small tea shop. Then the gradual path will lead you to the village of Sikha (1935m) which is the inhabitant of Gurung and Magar community. You will stop here for a lunch. Another 03 hours' gradual walks through the rhododendron forests willl lead you to the village of GHorepani. Ghorepani is quite popular among the trekkers as it is a wonderful spot for sunrise and sunset viewing. And the tourists also prefer to spend a night at Ghorepani looking at the nearby hills, the mountainous range and the nearby vicinity.

Today you need to wake up early in the morning for the 45 minutes hiking to Poonhill with the help of flashlight or moonlight and the glimpse of stars. Poonhill is named after the tribe Pun, living in Ghorepani and surroundings. Poonhill is the best place for sunrise view and also for the panoramic scenary of the mountain like Machhapuchre (Fishtail), Mt. Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Annapurna Range, Ganesh Himal Range and many other snows capped mountains.
After a great time in Poonhill, you will return to your lodge for the breakfast. Then the trek continues through the Pine, Rhododendron, Fur and bamboo forest with few short ups and downs and until reaching Tadapani. Another two hours through the dense forests of Rhododendron, Bamboo and Pine but easy decending walk will take you to Ghandruk, a large semi-modern village of Gurung Community located on the foothills of the Annapurna Mountain. You will have a lunch at Ghandruk which followed by tour round the village, museum, school etc. You will have a chance to dressed up yourself with Gurung cultural dress and take a picures for your lifetime memory. Ghandruk Village is very popular among the domestic tourists as the Village has preserved the old traditional Gurung culture with gusto and enjoyment. Plenty of accommodation and lodging facilities are available in Ghandruk as there are many guesthouses in the region. As tomorrow is the last day of your trek, you can enjoy the small party with the crews who have been occupying you since two weeks.

It's the last day of your trekking to Annapurna Circuit. After a relaxed breakfast, you will continue trek decending down to Syauli Bazar. Then the easy trail contiues along the side of Modi Khola until you reach Bitrethanti where you will have last lunch in the mountain. From here you will drive to Pokhara accomplishing the wonderful Annapurna Circuit Trek. Rest of the time will be at leisure on your own interest.

You will be driving back to Kathmandu from Pokhara enjoying the scenic drive along the Prithvi Highway. On the penultimate day of the tour package, you will drive back to the Capital city of Kathmandu along the Prithvi Highway. It will take around 06 hours for you to reach the Capital city.

It’s the last day of your stay in Nepal. As per your flight time, you will be transferred to the International Airport in Kathmandu from where you will board a flight back to your country or to your next favored destination.
