Sikles Trek

Overview

Sikles Trek is one of the short and perfect trekking destination. Sikles is a famous village of Gurung people on the north of Pokhara Valley. This short five days trek will take you into the heartland of the Gurungs which is one of Nepal’s major ethnic groups. We will be able to their culture (dance and song and social life), locally produced Handicrafts and utensils, and an agricultural way of life that has changed little over the centuries. This largest Gurung village in Nepal has about seven hundred households. This is an elegant and extremely well reserved village of Gurungs which is balanced on a hill at an altitude of 2000 meters.

Sikles Trek we will walking through Yangjakot, Tangting and Sikles villages. These villages are larger and rich for tradition and culture in Kaski District. With the best view point of this route, along the thick rhododendron path to Ghalekharka from Sikles is Tara hill. From here, we can see the whole Annapurna mountain range. This is the best place to explore the natural beauty, culture, lifestyle of indigenous Gurung people, forest full of flora & fauna and practice of sustainable eco-tourism. Sikles Trek to Sikles takes you through terraced fields, high alpine meadows and remote communities. Village paths are narrow and these are edged by stone and mud houses that are traditionally grouped in a ribbon. The trek not only allows you to study the wealth of flora and fauna but also provides some wonderful views of the Annapurna. This moderate trek starts and ends in Pokhara that goes no higher than 2000 meters. This is a great short trek for anyone coming from lower elevations.
