Overview

Tired of crowded trekking trails and want a quieter, less explored trek?

Manaslu Tsum Valley Trekking is the answer!

It is a challenging trek in the Manaslu region and brings you close to Mount Manaslu, the world’s eighth highest mountain.

Manaslu Tsum Valley was previously closed to tourists but finally opened to the public in 2008. Because of this, it is still largely unexplored, and traveling there is like embarking on an adventure in an ancient region.

This valley is rich in ancient art, culture, and religion, situated against the majestic backdrop of the Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal, and the Buddha Himal.

So, there is no better word to describe this valley than “Tsum.” It is derived from the Tibetan word “Tsombo,” which means vibrant.

Most locals are descended from Tibetans who migrated and settled here in the 16th century. Therefore, their language, dress, and customs are very similar to those of the Tibetans.

They practice Buddhism and are so influential that the populace has signed an oath of non-violence forbidding them from making animal sacrifices, hunting, and forest fires.

Local ethnic groups participate in sage burning ceremonies to purify the air, build mani walls, and raise prayer flags to entertain all sentient creatures. This is the most incredible thing you will ever see.

Historic monasteries such as Rachen Gompa and Mu Gompa are the key attractions of this trek.

Larkya La Pass is the ultimate place that showcases the most lovely view of Cheo Himal (6820m), Kang Guru (6981m), Himlung Himal (7126m), and the Annapurna Massifs.

Autumn (September – November) and spring (March-May) are the best times for this trek. The weather is pleasant at this time of the year and is the perfect time to take photographs of the gorgeous landscape and the Himalayas.
